I've recently wired up my camera electronics to trigger an event as the shutter is pressed . I call this 'superspeed photography' because unlike high-speed photography I no longer have to wait till dark and use the flash to light the image . I can now trigger an event with my D50 at 1/4000th sec and photograph it in the same action .

This spark was triggered by taking the picture and I managed to still capture it at 1/4000th sec .

I was playing around tonight and a water drop didn't do much when zapped

brown sugar looked a bit better

Then this poor unsuspecting fly wandered across the sugar and I simply couldn't resist pressing the shutter release .... this is the last millisecond of the fly's life Smile

haa some more crazy experiments from Desmond!
looks like you got yourself busy with some new dangerous projects again!

Don't exaggerate now ! Actually two weeks ago I went around mount Ruapehu in 16 hours , that wasn't dangerous - though I did almost faint 3 times Big Grin

Desmond,

Another interesting project. Poor fly. This reminded me of this movie for some reason.
This new 50 000 volt spark is quite good - I did a few more shots tonight ....

I lit some gas with it

Jumped it across a mirror

and through a mirror

tried to make a capacitor explode ....

and wondered how it would look through a flash tube

it never flashed , the 50 000 volt spark just jumped through the gas

That is insane! Are you not scared of getting an electric shock?

That is so awesome at the same time!

I enjoy electric shocks Big Grin . I've been belted by 50 000 volts many times with electronic ignition and used to grab a 30 000 volt electric fence back in SA just for fun Smile
50kV!
isn't that pretty much the same voltage as the sub-transmission power line!
