Thanks for the link!
interesting comparison
the f/1.4's bokeh is definitely a lot better. both when wide open and stop down a bit.

I think the difference between using F1.8 and F1.4 is too subtle. 85.4 produces very sharp photos at F2 and okay sharp at F1.4, however you will see purple fringe there.
I found the above interesting if you are toying up the both.

yes you are right , the overall picture quality difference between f/1.4 and f/1.8 is subtle especially considering that the f/1.4 is a few times more expensive than the f/1.8.
The biggest differenc is the bokeh.. the bokeh from the f/1.4 is just a lot nicer and smoother.. which can mean a lot to some people... the f/1.8's bokeh is quite nice already but it looks a bit nervous at wide open. and once you stop down a bit.. the difference in bokeh between the two lenses become even more obvious...
f/1.8 is definitely more bang for your buck but there is a reason why so many people are still buying the f/1.4

UUmmm... people like me. I love the bokeh of the 1.4.

IMO, the comparison shows little difference between the 2 lens other than the fact that 85/1.8 is more saturated. On the other hand the 85/1.8 focuses faster, much like the 50/1.4D. However the price difference is so evident. That being said, I love my fat little 85 1.4. Hehe.
