Hey All,

Recently attended the Turkish Grand Prix along with a subsequent few days tour around the area. Snapped a few shots which I will slowly post on here as I upload/edit. Must say - the F1 was spectacular. Main 'difference' was the noise which was around tenfold louder than on TV and absolutely hair-raising. Most people seemed to wear ear-plugs!

Also managed to pick up an old 'Zenit' Russian 35mm camera in excellent condition along with what appears to be a 70's analog Russian light meter! Will post pics of as soon as possible. Great vintage gadgets.

As promised - here's a few from the F1 Race

Will upload more later from Istanbul itself if anyone is interested - let me know.

As far as the race went - it was nothing short of spectacular. The sound alone is worth the ticket (which was around 130 Euro for a 3 days pass although we only went on Sunday - ours was 'Silver' category). Cheapest ticket was around 35 Euro - general admission on grass areas. Tickets for the Grandstand were market 'Gold'? and were considerably more expensive while you focus only on the main straight.

We sat at the last series of corners / chicane (Granstand 8) after the main straight and towards the final straight (I've attached a small map to indicate better) So we got to see them belting down the straight at 300km/h +, braking in what appeared to be nano-second, going through the chicane and gunning down the main straight. We also saw the start and a decent vew of the pit stops/paddock area.

Prior to the F1 earlier in the day we were treated to a GP2 race and a Porsche Cup round which were both very entertaining. During the GP2 an accident occured and the Safery Car came out! The sound it makes can arguably rival that of the race cars - and make no mistake - the driver gives it all and it looked incredibly fast going around the track - it's no family saloon!

During the F1 the main points for me were

- the speed at which they travel - prior to our chicane they're belting down the main straight at 300km/h+ looked surreal how fast they're moving and also how quicky they managed to slow down and go through the turns.

- the sounds seemingly unheard on TV such as the noise they make when they downshift as well as upshift - something spectacular.

- the cars themselves are fairly small - compared to my expectations at least and immaculate looking

Can write more of this nonsense if anyone is interseted - was a fantastic day all round.

All shots were taken with my Bigmos (often at full zoom!) on a tripod except for the last one (taken with my 80-200)

In some shots the fence is visible but there was little I could do about it - apologies
