Anybody here use one?
1) Nikkor vs third party ?? Nikkor worth the extra $$$???
2) I presume 1.4x loses 1 stop and 2.0x loses 2 stops, how about 1.7x? Can I guess 1.5 stops?
I use a Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 1.4x teleconverter. (there are two lines of TC from Kenko, the Pro300 is the more expensive one)
I have not done any side by side testing with the Nikon one. But from what i've read/heard the Kenko is nearly as good as Nikon in terms of optical quality. Price is a lot cheaper, but the best thing is it supports a much wider range of lenses.. The Nikon one one supports a very small list of 1st party lenses.
The downside of the Kenko is the build quality is just not as good as the Nikon.
I'll post up my review of the Kenko TC later.
Thank you. I have used the Pro 300DG Kenko with Canon. Its just that Nikon offers 1.4x, 1.7x and 2.0x. That is 1 more than Canon has. I had the 1.4x previously and sold it. So thinking of replacing it with, just don't know what to get yet.
The Kenko is mighty good value for $$$.
Don't bother with 2.0x. It's just too soft and you loose too many stops.
Too bad Kenko doesn't make a 1.7 Pro300DG...... or i might want to get that instead of the 1.4x.
The Nikon is too expensive compared to the Kenko, not worth the $$$.
