I'm just interested if you guys getting payed for making photos or it's just a hobby of yours?

If yes could you tell your story how you reach a point in your passion when you get payed?

And for what you are getting money weddings, commercial advertise, portrait?

I wish to live of photography but as far as I know it's not that easy.
no, it's a money sucking hobby
i work for Nikon! LOL
I work in the photography line. I contribute and aid Nikon financially to keep their staff paid and their profits high. But actually making money from taking photos, I don't make any. I help others spend their money sometimes, but for some reason, money always ends up with Nikon.

Are you serious? I know one guy who shoot for Nikon Smile
Part of my main job is taking and editing photos (events, mug shots...etc)

And apart from that, i also have my own photography company as a 2nd job.
I started from automotive photos for private customers and then some magazines approached me and asked for photos, then slowly moved to the more "general" photography areas like portraits, weddings, products photos...etc But now, my main focus area is baby photos. Quite a big difference from where i started isn't it?

If you are starting your own photography business, taking photo is the easiest part.
The hardest parts are:
How to work out your business plan so your business will be profitable.
How to deal with customers (most customers are very nice to their photographer, but some are just very very demanding) and keep them happy.
How to maintain a steady flow of income.
