Do you carry your camera with you all the time?
Or do you normally leave your camera at home and only take it out and take photos only a few times a year?
I would love to carry my camera with me more often. But simply even d60 is to big for this job (maybe with 35 f/1.8) but still I would like to see dslr quality in Canon g10 package.
I love street photography and having camera like that will totally rule my world! There is new Olympus e-p1 seems cool but to much expensive.
So usually I just ride with a friend and whole equipment to places where we have been and we try to get good frames.
But in the past I used to have my Canon a530 all the time with me and I was making hundreds of photos sharing it with people all over in the internet, getting some feedback. That gave me alot, now I know when good photo won't happen.
Nowadays I chase good composition, I got photo in my head way before I take picture (I was in the class where a pro photographer was talking for 7h how important it is). So camera for me is just a artistic tool that I use to capture my point of view. I have artistic past a lot of drawing, painting and such so it's easy to me.
When I'm shooting location I stand, look around. I'm looking for sources of light, then I look for good composition. I usually know how to setup my camera I shooting 90% time in A mode with iso100 and I try most of the time to shoot under exposure (I start with -1EV) just to avoid any sorce of highlights.
How about you yellow?
I used to carry my camera with me all the time. And i still do that quite often (normally with the 50mm f/1.4G, no grip) . But the D200 and D700 are both quite big so i would want a smaller (and low-key) camera for everyday / street photography. Yes the Olympus EP1 is what i want to get next.. but it is really quite expensive for a 1st generation camera of this kind. I guess if i can wait for another 10-12 months, there should be quite a few other/better choices on the market.
I agree that "look" before shoot is a very good practice . i know some photographers even go to the extreme and do not remove their camera from the bag until they found the exact camera angle they want. This really force/train yourself to find the best composition. Unfortunately when you are shooting paid jobs, very often you don't have the luxury to do that as quite often you just have to keep shooting and shooting.
I use my camera a few times a week when I have something to shoot. I normally don't. Its hot at the moment, so I don't really like the idea of bringing something heavy and big around. I tend to shoot more during the winter months. I don't really do much street photography as I don't have the time to go out. And if I do, usually the camera isn't with me.
I stay at home on weekends as its really busy. I usually go out during weekdays.
I heard a rumor that nikon wanna do slr with no mirror to match e-p1! That will be great !
D700+50 1.4 is my dream low light, ninja, weatherproof combo

If they do, they better release it (or announce it) quickly.. before i go and get a ep1!
I know it sounds a bit funny, but the biggest thing i don't like about the ep1 is actually the LCD screen. Since it doesn't have any optical viewfinder (and i don't want to attach the optional viewfinder) the LCD is the only way for me to see the picture (both when taking and reviewing pictures). i would hate to go back to a low resolution LCD screen after using the D700.
If the EP1 is a low end camera, then i can probably live with it. But for a brand new high end compact camera, i would want a good LCD that is at least as good as the Nikon.
Sometime i use it very often like everyday, sometime i don't touch it for a few weeks!!
i use it everyday.
Rumor or not, Nikon would be stupid to ignore this mirrorless DSLR design. It is most likely the future of DSLRs now that image quality from crop sensors have reached a plateau. Unfortunately the current crop of m4/3 cameras aren't very interesting and aren't taking advantage of their diminished form. The EP-1 was a serious disappointment when i first saw it. It looked nothing like the prototype, it was utterly pedesterian looking! On top of it, apparently it's got slow AF, crap LCD screen, no viewfinder, no flash, etc.
Hi guys I'm back from a little vacation it was so good!
Anways I checked my camera (d60) for first time since I got it brand new in May.
It's got 7000 clicks :O I was shocked but it's true I shoot quite a lot.
I always use single fire mode but I try to go as much as I can to practice my skill.
It's aroud 60 frames a day..
How about you guys?
Hey welcome back Sasim.
7000 clicks in 3 months.. that's a lot especially you are not shooting sports or anything that requires a high shooting rate!!!
I'll check my shutter count and let you guys know
