So what is your Nikon Story?
I will start.
WHY NOT? I started many years ago on the Nikon D70. I then switched to the Canon 400D and a EF17-40 F4 L when I read about the 5D and 1D, that was the natural direction to head towards 'Full Frame'. A few years later, a 5D and a set of L lenses later, I feel that Canon no longer fills my needs as well as Nikon.
The D700/D3 are truly amazing machines. Coupled with Creative Lighting Systems, Weatherproofing, 51point auto focus, its a pretty complete package!
So here I am, standing at the doorway of Nikon, waiting to be invited in to a whole new world.

Started with this guys D70. Thanks!! Since then, no reason to change to Canon.
I love the material they use on their DSLRs (even the entry models)..
and I really like Nikon's UI/ergonomic design . i love it how the buttons allow you to trigger most of the frequently used functions so easily and you don't have to go into a menu..i love the button layout. i love the special lamp for focus assist, i love the on/off button, I just love all those little details/design on a Nikon camera.
Nikon DSLRs just feel so much better when you hold it on hand and use it...
I agreed - the first DSLR I owned was a D50, the reason I chose this over other brand's entry level camera is also because of the material nikon used. It is a lot better than what you get from most of the other brands.. that has a very "plastic finish" back then...
I am using a D200 now and I did not regret or look back at all.

Nikon is great brand thats for sure. I wanted to buy e-420 with pencake seems like a great street photo camera but I bought Nikon d60. I don't realy know why (they were adding some nice book I think...). But after few days I knew that was good choice ! But after having D300 in my hands.. I mean.. I love that rubber thing !
But don't be so nice for a Nikon! They fall behind Canon in term of lenses 85mm, 70-200, and other non-tele lenses are just old and could be much better and cheaper! I love Canon 70-200 f/4 lens cheap and great.
But Canon seems to much "techno" for me and Nikon seems more Classic and I like that !
Uff and Nikon d700 is best camera in the world in my opinion! I had oportunity shooting with D3x / d700 with all good lenses like 14-24 , 24-70 and such and I must say D700 is the best!
I chose Nikon by mistake!
The first time I heard of the brand "NIKON" was when my mum purchased a Nikon SLR on her business trip to Danmark. Since then Nikon became our family camera and I developed this impression that Nikon is a HUGE brand, probably one of the best out there! So when I was considering going DSLR, I thought it would be good if my camera is compatible with my dad's lens (yes he only had one..LOL). After a period of researching, extensive studies and thorough comparisons, in 2006, I made up my mind to go for Nikon D50 ( D50 was praised by its high iso performance over the D70/D200). My decision was partially influenced by Ken Rockwell (I am sure you all know who he is) who's also a fan of Nikon.
So what other factors influenced me to buy Nikon? ...A MISTAKE! I thought a camera would look so cool with a red strap, and I thought Nikon's has the red one! Muhahaha...so when I opened the box it was all wrong. LOL...However, I just really love how Nikon camera feels and looks. It's solid, robust, perfect for guys. If I have to define their gender, Nikon would be male and Canon would be female. It's interesting why I would think it that way.
Nikon has a huge collection of lens but many are already dated, so I really hope Nikon will replace them with the newer models. I hope to see more top portrait/wedding photographers use Nikon in the years to come.

If Nikon would be male and Canon would be female.... then what is Sony / Pentax / Sigma ?
Sony is a little boy trying to challenge the old man and funky lady
Sigma.. is a grumpy old man. he has bad tempers and like to do things in different ways.. but he surprises us with what he is capable of from time to time
Pentax.. hm.. no idea.
