First try at Off camera flash.

Self portraits, so it was a little difficult. But managed to get it to work.

I had SB-600 firing at subject triggered by Ebay triggers. Camera was Canon 5D.

Flash at camera right.

Flash under subject

Flash on camera right. Flash zoomed to 85mm. My eyes were a little strange from all the flashes, so I started closing my eyes.

Not bad as your first try. The black background works quite well.
1 and 3 are my favourite. But not sure about you pose in #3 LOL

why you didn't use your D700 and CLS instead?

Wife had everything set up for a product shoot she did in the afternoon, so I just carried on using the gear. The SB600 works great! The 5D...... hhhmm.... oh oh oh... I also used Canon as I have a wireless remote shutter release to trigger focus and shutter. It was a self-portrait.

There was no background, just 1/200 removes ambient light and the room was dark. #3, my eyes were sore from the flash! hahahahaha
