once i dropped my 20mm 2.8...if it wasn't the UV filter I guess my lens would have been broken...in that accident both the lens and the lens cap survived, and the UV was broken into pieces (cost $20)...what a lesson!

opps..i bet your heart must have stopped when you heard the broken glass sound!!!
