This is a warning to all those of you who use the Ebay triggers.

I nearly lost a SB-600 last night while shooting when the bracket holding the trigger which in turn holds the flash decided to go lose and the whole thing dropped. Luckly for me, I was holding the tripod at that time and managed to minimize the potential damage. It could have been alot worse.

If you look at the below picture, you will see the trigger with a big round knob, that knob allows you to tilt the trigger / flash up or down. This knob can come loose very easily and your flash will drop either forwards or backwards resulting in LCD damage if it hits something or hot shoe damage.

be really careful, saving $$$ on the trigger could cost more as a broken flash is usually 10-15x the price of a trigger.
thanks for the remainder. I was actually going to ask if u have tighten that knob completely as I've heard people had accident caused by that. but i just keep on forgeting... my bad...
not only that, the top hot shoe plate is also held by some tiny screws and plastic. I definitely won't trust it to hold my sb900.
and another thing you may want to know about the ebay trigger is that some people reports it interfernce with the camera and affect the photo .. iso if you see something funny with your photo it maybe caused by the ebay trgger
CTM,
Thanks for the warning on ebay triggers. I was considering buying one, but will look for something with more quality now.
Forgive me for my silly questions. Is that coffee filter box, what you referenced as a snoot in another post? What is the purpose of the box? Thanks,
vw
