the lens i have been waiting for ever since i converted from canon to nikon, finally picked it up this afternoon. the Nikkor 200mm F2 VR

this thing is bloody huge & heavy (more than 3kg), when mating with my d700 it makes the d700 feels like a d40. will update more details and photos once i start using it.

and here is a test shot from tonite, 200mm at f2, no flash, no photoshop sharpening, iso500

Damn, that is nice! Looking forward to seeing more samples. I have this on my 'wish list'.
hm the lens look sexy.
thanks guys.

here are a few more from tonite, hasn't got too much time this week so didn't bring any lightin but man i had so much fun with this lens.

the contrast and colour redention was very pleasent, and the sharpeness, it makes my post processing so much easier.

Very nice shots!! Love the bokeh!
thanks for the comment guys,

i did a few test shot with the nikkor teleconverter TC-14Ell today, overall i am pretty happy with it.

i would definitely recommend the TC-14EII if you are into wildlife/bird photography. when pairing with the 200 f2, it looses one full stop, which gives me 280mm F2.8.

Lets see some pics:

LOOK at the wonderful BOKEH!!! LOOK at the sharpness! OH OH OH... I want one.

Any reason you didn't get the 300 F2.8? Or 400 / 2.8 hahaha?
cheers, its definitely worth every dollar!

i did quite a bit of search before i bought it (well actually, i was saving, and kept dreaming about ownin them when i looked on other forums lol), my main use will be for automotive and bit of on track racing.

for still car shots, 300 is bit too long and the perspective will make the car looks like model toy, so i went with the 200. + i bought the teleconverter, so its sort of like 2 lens in one. i have seen a few detail comparison between the 200 + 1.4 TCE and the 300 f2.8, IQ wise, i really couldn't tell any difference. i might get a TC-2E and make it 400F4 VR and see how it goes lol.
There is one for sale at the moment on auctions. I think it will sell for about $5600 NZ. Very tempting.

You could have got the 200-400! hahaha.

If you add a 2x Teleconverter it will go from F2 - 2.8 - 4 = 2 stops, which is still mighty descent considering its a 400mm lens.

Maybe I should sell my 70-200 to fund the 200/2 ........
