I'm seriously considering buying this bag, was wondering if there is anything else close to the mini trekker that is worth buying. Mostly carrying 1 D200 with the grip, a Sigma 24-60 f/2.8, 50 f/1.8, sb-600, nikkor 70-300, and a bunch of filters batteries and stuff. I'll be hoping to add on another sb-600 or another lens in the near future.
Also recommended places to buy from? Online or in New Zealand. Thanks in advance.
Do you want backpack? Slingbag?
I suggest you look on here for real life examples as to what the bags can take.

I think the Mini Trekker is good!
I didn't know you had a 50/1.4 either!

I want a backpack for increased comfort. I don't have a 50 f/1.4. I must've been dreaming about the gear I wish I had.
hey magicmarker,
have you looked at the Tamrac Expedition range?
http://www.tamrac.com/f_expedition_new.htm
Very good quality but normally they are quite a bit cheaper than the equivalent bag from Lowepro.
I'm using a 8x. I can fit a D200+grip + D700+grip + 70-200 f/2.8 VR + 24-70 f/2.8VR + SB600 + 2-3 more lenses and a whole bunch of accessories. When fully loaded + a tripod mounted outside, it's over 10kg but i still feel ok when i have to carry it around whole day.
The 8x is probably way too big for you as it is a HUGE bag. so you can look at some of the smaller one maybe 6x??

Tamrac has all weather cover? You looked at Kata and Crumpler? Use a plastic bag brooo!
Don't think Tamrac has all weather cover.
but the expedition series bigs all has special water proof zippers and the bag design seem to be a bit weather resistant too... (but i won't risk it when rain is pouring down)

They want about 500 nzd for the expedition 8 here, a bit out of my price range. I was only looking at the mini trekker because it can be had for below 200NZD. I've got my eye on a 2nd hand expedition 8 on trademe though!
I think that mini-trekker is good value for money! Those crumplers look pretty cool!
$500NZD!??i paid NZD$330 for mine last year bought from Progear. At that time, the equivalent Lowepro was around $500 if my memory was correct.
so i thought the Expedition 8 is a lot better value for money. If it's $500NZD now it's like 50% more within a year (assuming you got your quote from Progear as well)
But as i said, the 8 is really large. a "6" would probably be more suitable for you?

Thanks so much! Just did a google search and have found progear. I'm going to go there tomorrow and hopefully pick up a bag

. The expedition 8 is a humongous(sp?) bag.
