Day 2 Sept 2nd 2009 - texture

Learnt from yesterday's experience, i don't leave it till the last minute to take my photo today. Photo taken at a nearby park. Metering at Matrix mode, I set the exposure to -2EV to increase colour saturation. Shooting at f/1.4, I have to set ISO to Lo 1 as it was a sunny day and it was very bright out there so 1/8000s at ISO200 can't give me the -2EV i want. WB set to cloudy so i get a warmer WB. Straight JPG from camera with no editing.
Nice shot, I like it! Smile
Day 3 - Sept 3rd 2009 - World of Coca-Cola

Took me much longer than i thought to take this photo. And still can't really get the effect i want but i'm running out of time AGAIN!!!
I like the new design coke can so take a photo of it! A remote flash one with blue colour gel is used to light up the back of the can. Built-in flash is also used to give it a bit of fill in light. Another remote flash with red fliter is used to light up the background. Straight JPG from camera

Nice shot! Interesting perspective! Love the red background!
the background was a fail actually.
I only spent 5-10 minute to setup the coke can and foreground lighting.
then I spent another half an hour or so on the background. The bokeh is supposed to be a "coke" shape but i guess not many people can see that.
I would really like to spend another 30 minutes to get the background bokeh look right and then improve the foreground lighting a bit but the clock was already pointing towards "12" Sad
Some of the bokeh on the right hand side looks like the coke shape, but the others on the left sort of distorted. You actually put bottles or something in the background and illuminate them with the red gelled flash?

But still a good job considering no post processing! Smile
Day 4 - Sept 4th 2009 - Chicken

Took this photo early in the morning. The picture itself is not really special or great. But taking this photo is actually a lot harder than i thought. 50mm means i have to get real close to the chicken. But close distance + shooting at wide open on a moving target means i have to get the focus exactly spot on. The 50mm f/1.4G's slow AF speed doesn't help, and it seems the chicken doesn't like me stand in front of it. Everytime i try to move to in front of it, it turned around and face me with it's chicken ass... :/

You got pretty close on the right hand side of the shot. Impressive!

Thanks for sharing!

The chicken shot, its hard! But you succeeded! Its a nice shot! Where did you find a chicken anyway?
