Day 14 - f/1.4

It's a photo that i thought would be very easy to take and end up taking me a lot of time and still not happy with the result. I ran into a few problems:
1. The 50mm f/1.4G doesn't allow me to focus as close i want it to be. And i don't want to edit/crop the picture at all. So i have to adjust my camera angle and object placement many times before i got something that looks good without the need to crop.
2. The black clothes i use for background is not very smooth and has millions of small creases and fold marks. So i spent a lot of time adjusting my flashes placement and settings to make the background as black as possible to hide all those creases.

I can fix all these easily in photoshop but this is not the point for this series of photos and where's the fun if i do that?

Shot at f/8 to make the whole f/1.4 lens in focus and the little brother f/1.8 slightly out of focus. 2 remote flashes to provide the main lighting from both side and another remove flash with yellow colour gel to create the yellow reflection on the glasses from above. All triggered and controlled by D700's internal flash.

WOah!!!! Another new addition to your Nikon family. Welcome to the world of "creamy bokeh"!

I can't even tell the background is a cloth. On my screen, it looks completely black. NIce job! Smile

Any modifiers on your flashes?
Thanks CTM, on my PC screen i can actually still see a few fold marks.

I used a white clothes to diffuse the top flash (the one with yellow gel). No other modifier.
Day 15 - Is it Spring or Autumn?

Today is 15th day of the month. Half way of my 30 photos challenge. It becomes harder and harder to come out with new ideas. But anyway it is Springtime now here in New Zealand. I manually set the WB to 10000k to give the photo a very very yellowish colour shift. It magically transformed the green leaves on this wall to yellow. I underexposure the picture by -0.7EV to bring out the colour saturation. Straight JPG from camera.
I like it! I am surprised you can still find creativity. I am all out of ideas. Maybe I need to get out more? haha Good shot! Love the creative use of white balance and exposure compensation!
Great shot.
Day 16 - Park and Ride

Someone has "parked" his bicycle to this bus stop probably so he can then ride the bus? Shot at f/1.6 to get whole bicycle just in focus.. AWB. Straight JPG from camera.
Nice shot!
Day 17 - My City

Matrix Metering with -1/3 EV exposure compensation to preserve details in the sky. Because of the high contrast between the sky and the ground, i have to turn on active D-Lighting to recover some more details in the shaodow and hightlight area. White Balance 10000K/M6 to create a warm colour tone with magenta tint. Straight JPG from camera.
I like it! Good shot! Was this shot from Cornwall Park or somewhere there? I can see Devonport on the left, so it has to be South of the bridge.
