True, and it probably won't be 5 times better either.
I'm sure there are a lot of people that would pay 10x the price for 10% better in performance !!
but it doesn't mean they are using 100% performance of their existing gear

this is the latest rumour D3s spec on Nikon rumour.
* Better ISO-performance (ISO 200-12800 probably)
* New 1.2 crop mode
* Bigger buffer
* Motion-Jpeg 720p (no 1080p!)
* Improved AF-ON button
* Improved multi-dial
* No 14 fps, I repeat no 14 fps
Nikon "s" model is usually a small improvement and most of the spec should remain the same as the existing model.
So unfortunately, this new rumour spec looks a lot more realistic than the previous 14fps/1080p/1025600ISO if you ask me...
one thing i don't really understand is why the 1.2 crop mode? Nikon doesn't make any 1.2 crop mode lenses
Isn't the ISO worse off than the D3? I thought the D3 could hit 25,600 or something.
I am surprised no improved software.
Motion JPG and not Video????
I am waiting for the D4, the D3s doesn't seem that 'awesome' anymore.
No, the ISO is not worse than D3.
D3's ISO is 200 - 6400 (boost up to 25600)
so IF D3s 's ISO is 200-12800. That mean it probably can boost up to 51200
Motion JPG is video , same as D90 and D300s..etc just not as good as the more advanced codec like H.264. But I'm not surprised if it is still Motion JPG and not h.264. Nikon is not Canon/Pansonic/Sony. They don't have the experience in making the H.264 codec cameras. And remember D3s is a facelift model, and most likely it'll be using exactly the same image sensor and processor. So if the original sensor/processor was not designed for 1080p h.264 video, it maybe technically impossible to do it without changing to a new sensor or processor, which is not something a "s" model does normally.
If the new rumour spec is true, that means we won't see a full HD Nikon DSLR until D4 comes out.
Looking at the previous D3s rumour spec again, i really think that's more like a D4 spec. Even so, 14fps still looks more like a wishlist to me.
Only a few more days to go and we'll see what D3s is really like. But if you are expecting something revolutionary, i think you will be disapointed for sure. Remember it's a D3s , not D4.
We are all just speculating I guess. I am not in the market to upgrade the trusty D700. No more $$$. Will be a few years before the D700 gets upgraded!
It is rather interesting to follow the advancement of camera technology though. Looking forward to owning something like a D4 with stereo sound and proper video as well as ISO100,000+ ISO and 14fps! hahaha.
Stereo sound!
I like that.

This is the spec from "Reponses Photo" magazine:
* Anti-dust system.
* The max ISO is at 12 800 + an extra Hi3 mode (102 400 ISO)
* 9 fps (FX), 11 fps (DX)
* Video @ 720p 24 fps.
* Quiet mode.
Not official yet.. but i believe it's all real and correct.
I was wrong that i thought the anti-dust won't be there but of course it's not a bad thing.
ISO 102400... hm.. wonder what sort of picture quality would be like at such a ridiculously high ISO???
Anyway, no big surprises but i would be surprised if there is any big surprise, after all it's just a "facelift" model.
Let's wait until the official announcement which is supposed to happen in a few hours time!
Hey I'll probably go for the youngnuo just because of build quality and the apparent good reviews. I intend to purchase one unit of used Nikon D90 and I want to be able to trigger this off camera in manual mode....In the future I want to make nice picture like that also.
