From NikonRumors.com:

PhotographyBay received a tip that Nikon will not be updating the D700, but instead will release a completely new model – Nikon D800 with the following specs:

* Video mode 1080p video recording (full HD)
* High resolution 24.5 MP
* High frame rate: 7 fps without battery grip (similar to D300s)
* 51-area Nikon Multi-CAM 3500FX (same technology as D3X)
* Expected to be released before the end of the year

1080p and 7fps???
The spec looks more like a fans wishlist to me?
Unless the 7fps is for DX crop mode, the spec looks even better than the D3x, which seems unlikely to be true.

What do you guys think?
those specs are looking a little too optimistic to me.
D800 rumour is popping up again on various website and forums..
the current rumour is that Nikon's going to announce it in a few weeks time.

FX
HD video, (1080P?)
18mp
If it gets Full 1080p HD Video and 18mp, its pretty much better than the D3s apart from the FPS.

It would be pretty awesome if it does get released, something I would consider upgrading to. I would like to play with the 1080 video.
Wow! If all this is true, that's the camera I've been waiting for. Too bad it's just speculation for now.

the rumour spec sounds good...
but if it's true spec, the price probably won't sound very good Sad
Some website is now suggesting the new model will be called D900 not D800.
D900 makes more sense to me than D800 as Nikon always starts a new generation with a D single digit flagship camera and then in that generation all the camera's first digit with either be odd or even following the flagship camera's model no, e.g.:

D1, D100, D50, D700
D2, D200, D40,D60, D80
D3, D300, D700, D90, D3000, D5000
Whatever Nikon's new model is that will have full frame (FX) and full HD (1080P) video capabilities and specs similar to the previous posts, I hope they come out with it soon.
