I was thinking about buying a Sigma 10-20mm, but changed my mind after reading the reviews. Then I read about the Tokina 12-24mm being a lower cost alternative to the Nikkor 12-24mm. I have not bought any of the 3. The Nikkor 14-24 would be nice though.

Which reviews did you read, vw?

I've got a Sigma 10-20mm before and while it's not the sharpest wide angle lens, colour and contrast seems to be quite good and i just love how wide it is.

Too bad it's not a full frame lens (just like most of the 10/12mm zoom lens) Sad

yellow15,
That's the main reason I did not buy any of the 3, because they were for DX format (non-full frame). If I were to upgrade to a D700, they would not be a good choice.

Arcspace,
I read the reviews almost a year ago. They were reviews and customer reviews along with forum posts.

vw, did you read reviews about the 'old' 10-20 or the new f3.5 constant apperture one?

Since I read the reviews a while back, they must have been about the f/4-5.6 version. Has anyone here had any experience with the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 lens?

ArcspacE,
How do you like your Sigma 150-500 APO HSM? Is it a fast lens for sports photography?
vw
vw, I've been preparing a review for it. Managed to take some decent shots the last few weeks. Watch this space.
Hopefully I'll put it together this week.

Overall - it's a keeper for me, and for its price - truly great.
