I recently picked up an Ebay umbrella bracket. I got it just to see how good / bad it was vs the Photoflex I am using now.

I find the photoflex very good, it has a large lever to operate the tilt. When it is fully loaded with an umbrella and a flash unit, it can be quite heavy and I have no doubt that it can support the weight. The photoflex has a female opening at the top and bottom, allowing you to insert either a cold shoe, or a wireless trigger in by getting a 'brass monkey'.

The Ebay umbrella bracket is much smaller in physical size. It uses a knob instead of a lever to operate the tilt. It has a fixed cold shoe on the top and it is not interchangeable. So depending on the wireless flash trigger, this could be a problem.

The cost for the Photoflex was $33 US vs $9 US for the Ebay. It is a great alternative if your umbrella is small, or you are looking for a budget bracket. Considering the price of a flash gun, I would recommend getting something decent to ensure your flash doesn't drop off.

I have had my stand / bracket blown over and the bracket did not break / drop the flash.

Big Grin
thanks for the review.

the ebay one doesn't look too bad at all in the photo?
Looks great for its price, that's for sure.
I had some time yesterday, so I took a photo of the ebay bracket holding up the umbrella and flash.
