I have a friend who is currently visiting Japan, so we headed to Mt Fuji and its surrounding area. This is a portrait done with D700 + 70-200 and 1 x SB600 trigged in M via CLS.
More to come!
Which one? Desaturated or normal??

Playing around with some black and white. He was wearing a pair of Ray Bans, so here is a little AD like shot.

Cool photos! love the Ray-Ban ad!
For those of you interested in the 'lighting' of the above shots. It was just 1 SB_600 fired at 1/2 or 1/1 power. It was placed 45 deg from the subject to the camera left. Some of them were at head height and some were above head height. I shot the camera in Manual mode and underexposed by -2/3 EV to get a darker background.
CTM,
Thanks for the information on the lighting. I usually just set it for fill-in flash mode. I should start experimenting with the manual modes more.

Ray Ban ad is the best!!!
Few more shots, same 1 light setup as I didn't bring anything else. This time, the flash was still at 1/2. The shutter was increased to get exposure round about -2/3 EV to -1 EV. The aperture was locked at 5.6 approximately.
D700 and 70-200.
Some tourists that were interested in what we were doing, so I took a photo for them.
Behind the scenes, flash on the left.

looks very nice!
i think the ambient exposure can probably be a bit lower in the 2nd set of photos to bring out the mood a bit more.
and what's did you use to take the last two photo? 85 1.4?? the bokeh looks so creamy smooth
Well done CTM.
I like most of it. I like how the sun is in a perfect spot to act as rim light behind the subject.
Thanks for all the comments.
