What are you using and why?

I am using Op-tech. Big and made of foam. Comfortable and well-priced. It has really cool quick connector systems which allows one strap to be used on multiple bodies.
I was actually looking at straps not too long ago. I'm still on the standard one though. Are the straps worth the price?

In my opinion yes. Especially if you carry the camera out of the bag on your shoulder alot. If your camera also weighs alot, I recommend it. I normally have the camera out of the bag and on my shoulder most of the time. Sometimes with the 70-200 mounted and I don't feel like the straps are cutting my sholder in to bits!

It is quite reasonably priced, have a look at the ebay sellers list.

I was hoping somebody can give an opinion on the Black Rapid R Strap or Kata straps. Smile

Here is the Black Rapid Review : Here
I've looked at the Op-tech one before. seems quite cool .. but I normally just hold the camera with my hand and wrap the strap around my hand/arm a few times.. the standnard one seems fine this way...

but the Black Rapid R Strap look awesome!! hehe

I'm interested in gettnig one too. Would be good when doing weddings as you don't have time/hand to swap cameras and stuff

Really be careful when you buying any fancy camera strap.
Some people avoid any strap with quick connector as they can also become a quick disconnector!

Just read it. The black rapid needs some special adaptor to work? I think it needs something to be attached to the bottom of the camera. If you scroll to page 7, you will see that the Black Rapid CEO replies or tries to. It gets all messy! His job, skills, business plan are all scrutinized! Its terrible!

The Optech is less fancy, but still has those "quick connectors". So far no issues with them on both cameras. 1 camera has 3/8" webbings and the other has the optech loop or something. The upstrap is similar to the optech. No fancy connector systems. Just connects to camera original points.

Ouch, if my camera was to fall, I would cry!

But a strap is better than NO strap!
I would cry too if my strap suddenly let go and my 3kg+ camera fall onto the ground. Don't want to imagine what my camera (and my face) would look like if that happens!!

Yeah be very careful if you strap uses quick connectors. If you use it to connect/disconnect your camera, be very sure to check, double check and triple check the connector is fully locked everytime you reconnect it back.
Man, those guys on dpreview are mean. The poor fella had his camera dropped, then gets his ass handed to him by everyone complaining he had no insurance, no backup bodies etc.... poor guy.....
Hope that doesn't happen to me. I am using an Optech. I have the 3/8" webbings. They seem pretty strong, have not had a problem so far with them.
I'm scared of those optech plastic clips!!
