Not sure it this has been discussed before so please forgive if I'm repeating. Need a little advice from you knowledgable fellas.

Got some sensor dust on my beloved D80. Arrrrrggggghhhh. Not cool.

What to do . . . .
Should I try and clean it myself (what would be the best tool - swabs, spray, etc?)
Or should I have it cleaned somewhere?

Thanks for all your input and please don't tell me to clean it at 'switch-off''. you D700 monsters! Big Grin
I would try blowing it off with a rocket blower. If it doesn't come off, then I would have no idea. I have still got dust on my camera and haven't gotten rid of it. arrghh......
yeah blow it off with a rocket blower first. If doesn't work then you can get a sensor cleaning kit and clean it yourself.

Or you can send it back to Nikon and get them to do a proper clean (that disassemble your camera)
Thanks for the info.
CTM, could you not remove the dust using the built-in cleaning function?

Not even with the built in cleaning function. I shouldn't have taken it to China without a bag. Sad

For most of the shots I take, it doesn't really show up. It really came up on long exposure shots.
I see.
My dust particle is pretty big although it's the first in almost 18 months.
It's so irritating. Aaarrrggghhh.
my d3000 does the image sensor cleaning everytime I turn it on and off will that cause damage should I change the seeting to manual?
no it won't damage your camera.
It just makes your battery goes flat slightly faster and take slightly longer to turn on.

But on the other hand, if you don't change your lens all the time, there is really no need to get it clean everytime the camera turns on/off .
Still haven't cleaned mine . . .
Going on a trip soon so no excuses. Damn.
