so it doesn't sound like it is cause by the buffer
in that case i'm not really sure, i didn't really notice any serious slow down problem with any of my cameras..
But i think there are a few D40/60 users here.. maybe they can tell you if they have similar experience?
Okay finally tried someone elses card and it still does it.
The camera is know struggling to take more than 3 or 4 pics on continuous shutter of a moving object.
Any ideas?
were you shooting in JPG?
and did it happen only when you have a pretty full card? or (pretty much) empty card as well?
Yeap shooting in JPEG and not in the biggest reso I can either.
4gb card had about 300 pics on it when shooting.
I've talked to a friend who has a D60, he said he doesn't have this problem
Is it still under warranty?
Have you considered taking it to Nikon for a 'look'?
okay i talked to someone who has a D60 and he doesn't have the same problem as well
but one thing is.. when you take photo, do you review and delete bad photos off the card quite often? with the FAT32 file system, when you keep deleting files (and keep shooting), the memory space become more and more fragmented and it will slow down the reading/writing speed when the remaining space is really fragmented.
try re-format your card, then keep taking photo without deleting any pictures.. and see if you got the same problem when the card is getting full?
I never delete any till I get them on the comp.
It MAY be fixed now, mr Joe Curphey said to try wipe the custom settings, and it seems back to normal now. Will have a proper play at the next track day.
If Active D Lighting is turned on, it can slow down your camera a bit. but it should slow down no matter how full your card is.
