Hey fellas,
I have the opportunity to purchase these two babies, second hand in good shape. For a decent price (+/- $700). Do you think it's worth it or should I rather invest in something new for that money?
Took some test shots - pretty sharp.
Thanks for any help.

US$700 for both? or just one?
any dust/mold/fungus visible?
It's for both.
The seller refuses to sell them separately.
Condition is pretty decent. No visible scratches, mould, etc. Original packaging, manuals, hoods, etc.
It's from a pro who upgraded to the 3-4 kings few years ago.
Hmmmm...
It's pro glass after all . . .
Just read kenrockwell's review on both - he rates both quite highly.
Well it's either those or that 10-20 Sigma I've being eyeing for quite some time.
Decisions, decisions...
I don't really know much about the 80-200 but i think the one you showing is the earlier version .
but still if it's around 700 for both, and they are in reasonably good condition, i say go for it. I'm pretty sure you can re-sell them for same price if you don't like them? Having said that, i might be good to check ebay for how much they worth in case there is a surprise.
Thanks for the input.
Most users on other forums reckon it's a good deal.
Think I'll go and take some more sample shots and do a propoer inspection.
To be fair - I rather invest in these two than the 10-20 right now. As you said - can always sell them afterwards, I guess.
Signature updated.

Congrats..
now you need to show us some sample shots!
Nice addition to your gear list! Looking forward to some sample shots.
ArcspacE,
In my opinion, you got a very good deal. The 35-70mm 2.8 is my "go to lens". It's very sharp and it's the lens that's on the camera if I can take only 1 lens. And it can function as a macro too. As you probably already know, the 80-200mm 2.8 is the predecessor to the 70-200mm VR. I've read that it was very sharp and the lens to get if you could not afford the VR version.

yes definitely a very good deal!
the 35-70 f/2.8 alone worths a lot of money !
