It's quite funny everytime a new lens/camera is released, there are always people complaining, like who needs a lens like this, why this and why that..
and this time i saw a lot of people are complaining about the price .

Look at the MTF Comparison for the old AF 28mm f/1.4 and the new 24mm f/1.4

http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imagin.../index.htm

http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imagin.../index.htm

the MTF of the 24mm is definitely a lot better than the old 28mm lens, and it has AF-S, 2 ED elements and Nano coating.

Now, the AF 28 f/1.4's price is around $4000 US 2nd hand on ebay and the new 24mm f/1.4's RRP is only $2199 US brand new.

so why the complain?
What's the 16-35's RPP?
RRP US: $1259.95
That 24mm 1.4 is wide and shallow! But for that price, yikes! I don't need a lens like that.

I also have my trusty 17-35 F2.8-4 Tamron, I don't need the Nikon version. I do think that, about time NIkon released a 16 or 17mm - 35 or 40mm or so F4 lens to compete with the Canon 16-35 / 17-40. But I guess Nikon has the 14-24......
The 24 1.4 looks so tasty!! Feel sorry to those who bought the 28 1.4 especially those trying to make a profit Tongue This one is newer and better and a lot cheaper

the 16-35mm f/4G ED VR seems very nice too

it has VR, Nano coating and ED !!

Price seems quite reasonable to me. I need to start saving up now!

Aren't we always . . .Big Grin
Is grass always greener on the other side?

On quite a few nikon forums, i see a lot of people are complaining about the new lenses and how Nikon is going downhill,
but then on the Canon forums, i see a lot of people are saying how good the new nikon lenses are and Canon need to catch up or they'll switch...

It's just so funny reading what people from different "sides" are saying
