This is exactly what i wanted for my Panasonic GF1, now coming to the new panasonic G2 camera. maybe this is the future of camera control?

what do you guys think? like it? hate it?
at least for the casual market?
That's pretty cool! but this type of focusing technology already exists with the iphone 3gs camera. If only the camera has a sexier design, or if the touch screen is larger and made of glass, i think i'll get one =P
yeah this is not really a new technology, i remember seeing some of sony's cybershot compact has this kind of feature 1-2 years ago?

but this is the first more serious camera , an interchangable lens camera that has this feature.

One of the problem i have with my GF1's video recording is that while the camera can AF during recording, sometime it's hard to get it to focus on exactly what i want it because:
1. the main object is not at the center
2. the object i want to focus on is not the closet object.

Or in the picture mode when i'm using Manual Focus or single point focus, i want to be able to assign the focus/zoom point quickly by tapping the object in the LCD instead of using the arrow keys

I'm guessing future DSLR can benefit with this kind of technology in live view mode or video mode as well.
I personally wouldn't use it. I prefer buttons to touch screens.
