Soon I have to take some photos inside the Civic Theatre in Auckland, what are some rough settings I should try? Tripod/speedlight req'd?
Its mainly of the seating as the company I work for supplied all the fabric last year when they were re done.
Cheers.
Your subject will be the whole civic theatre? If so, I would go with the tripod. Regarding the speedlight, depending if you want to fill any specific areas of the theatre.
Good luck!
Yeap whole theatre, with some close ups of the seats.
Think Ill bring my Curphey along.
so if you are just taking photo of the theatre (not a performance) then just grab your camera, and definitely a tripod as i imagine it will be quite dark inside. Use low ISO setting, shoot in either aperture or manual mode and use the aperture to control your depth of field.
use a flash if you want to light up some areas of the theatre as CTM said but i probably won't bother unless you have a few speedlight with colour gels, diffuser...etc so i can create some lighting effects i want.
If you shooting in JPG, play with the WB settings and see what white balance gives you the best picture.

Seems like a useful addition.
