Hello everyone!

I was just wondering if somebody knows how extend the shutter speed on the Nikon D5000. I recently purchased the camera and I was outside doing night photographs. This, however, was difficult because the longest shutter time is 30s. Can I extend this period somehow or do a manual shutter?

Thanks for all the help. :)
IF you got a click past 30s you will see bulb appear in your screen. You will need to hold down the shutter button for as long as you want the shutter to be open.

Alternatively get a wired remote shutter, this will ensure the camera isn't bumped when on long exposures and you lock it and leave it to expose.

Hope this helps
Since I got my remote, It's been nothing but awesome. Helps ALOT. Especially if you don't have $300+ to fork out for a good tripod. My one wobbles in the wind (LOL)

You are suppose to stand in between the wind and the tripod to shield it from the effects of wind!!!
