How long can you handheld your lens and still get a sharp picture?

Of course it depends on the focal length and how steady your hands are...

this is from a Taiwanese website, 3 seconds handheld seem to be possible with the new 16-35mm f/4 VR!!!

http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?...t=18615100

so for those who can't read Chinese, that guy just bought a 16-35 f/4 VR and he started testing the lens @ 16mm from 1/20s and finally down to 3s.

And the last photo is 3s with VR off.

looking at the 100% crop pictures, you can see, the picture with 3second exposure is a bit soft but still very useable!!

and 3 seconds!!!

amazing...
man, thats very impressive!
yes it is! 3 second exposure is really really long, and remember you can't see anything during the exposure so you can't even aim.

With more development in optical stabiliser technology + better high ISO performance, i can imagine the number of times that we HAVE to use a tripod will be getting less and less in the future!
No drinks the night before.
That is very impressive. Wow.. in about 10 years, I am guessing 30+ seconds no problem with IS/VR technology.
