what happemed to me was, i mounted the camera on the tripod very tightly, but after a few minutes/a few quick adjustments, the camera suddenly became half lose. Can't say it happen very oftern but this has happened to me quite a few times in the past 10 years or so. And normally the heavier the camera, the easier it happens.

So with those camera strip that locks the camera using the tripod socket. Basically the camera swings forth and back all the time when we are walking and the tripod socket is the pivot point. It maybe perfectly safe but personally i don't feel very comfortable with that kind of design.
I've heard a friend's camera dropped onto concrete floor when the tripod screw mount suddenly let go Sad
But at least he upgraded his camera and lens after the accidient Big Grin
I just read this thread about someone 's camera suddenly decided to disconnect itself from the strap and free falling onto the ground :o
