This is my latest camera bag and my 2nd camera bag from Tamrac.

I bought 1st Tamrac bag just over a year ago: Expedition 8x. It's a very nice bag, both in design and quality and the price is quite a bit cheaper than the similar bag from Lowepro (at least here in New Zealand). It's a huge bag and i can fit most of my gears in it. (2x full size DSLR with grip, multiple f/2.8 zoom, flashes, + a few other accessories).. but a lot of time, i just want to take 1 camera and 2 lenses (24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 VR) and that bag is just way too big even if i'm driving my car as it'll just take up more than half of my luggage space at the back. Unfortunately all my other smaller camera bags can't fit the 70-200 VR so i need to find something that is smaller but still can fit my D700 with grip + the 24-70 and 70-200.

I want to be able to able to pull the camera out/change lens easily and quickly so a sling pack is what i want.

After looking around and comparing the specs/price/size, i bought a Tamrac Velocity 9x.

It's one of the larger sling pack available as most of the smaller one can't fit my 70-200 VR. I also want the flexiblity to have the 70-200 either mounted on camera or unmounted which is actually quite a problem as a few sling packs only can fit the 70-200 when it's mounted on camera.

Anyway, the quality of the Tamrac Velocity 9x is very good with paddings everywhere. The top opening "Quick Flip Tops" design means i don't have to worry that stuff will fall out from the bag when i'm travelling (maybe because i'm stupid and forgot to zip up the bag completely) or i'm taking my camera in/out of the bag.

In fact, i can change lenses easily while walking by using this bag as my temporary portable "table".

There is also a decent size front pocket which can fit quite a few small items easily.

What i can fit in the bag:

I can fit my D700 with grip + 70-200 f/2.8 VR + 24-70 f/2.8 + 1 flash + 1 small lens + a few smaller items in the bag easily.

(Above pic shows the bag with gears in it:
a D700+MB-D10 grip (this is the largest size DSLR camera from Nikon, bigger than a D3/D3x) with Nikon 70-200VR F/2.8 attached, and a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 + a SB900

The only problem is that with all these gears (5kg at least) in the bag, it become quite heavy so carrying the bag for a long period of time (say 1 hour+) will make my neck/shoulderquite sore. In comparison, i can carry a lot more gear with my Expedition 8x and walk around for whole day and my neck/shoulder don't really feel sore at all. I guess it's a problem for most of the larger sling packs but it means if i'm thinking of going out for a half day or full day walk with the two f/2.8 zoom lenses, this is probably not the most ideal camera bag.

Overall, apart from the weight/neck sore problem, i'm quite happy with this bag. Both the design and quality are good. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a large sling pack! Just make sure you have a strong neck/shoulder!
Good read, thank you. I would too have a sore shoulder if I carried a sling bag.
Where are the photos???
okay, photos arrived!!
sorry was quite busy in the last few days
Any shots with the gear inside the bag?? Just want to see how much space or how cramped it is??
Does it fit the 70-200 attached? Looks like it has alot of room
added a pic with gears inside the bag!

and yes it can fit the 70-200 attached or detached. And this is one of the reason i bought this instead of some other sling bags as i want a bag that doesn't restrict me on where/how i have to store the 70-200.
