I have mine set to "Flash Exposure Lock". The Custom Function button to "Bracketing". I don't know what else to use it for.

What do you use yours for?
I use mine for FV lock too. Don't really use it though. I use my DOF button, and I don't change that.
At the moment, i use two custom menu banks:

Bank A: Portrait

- Spot Metering (so i can leave the metering swtich to matrix all the time, and activate spot metering manually when i want to. The reason is, before this, i just change the metering switch position to spot metering and then forgot so end up having lots of photos with bad exposure especialyl when i'm in a hurry!)
- Flash Exposure Lock (well, i consider this very important for portrait)

Bank B: Landscape

- Bracketing (for HDR or just being lazy)
- Virtual Horizon (love the virtual horizon function!!)

And i just LOVE the info button on the D700.. which allows me to check/change the shooting bank and custom bank settings so easily!!!

before when i use the D200, i rarely use the custom bank settings because it just a bit of hassle to go into the menu, find the custom bank (or shooting bank) settings page then change it..

now i just need to press the info button, and i can check/switch to another shooting/custom bank settings
I set those in my 'my menu', now after reading your post, I think I will just press 'info' and change in there! THanks!!!
oh yeah, my menu is great.
but the "info" button is even greater!!!!

at the beginning i thought it's just a info display screen just like the D60, but when i discover how i can just change some of the most commonly changed settings including the custom/shooting menu bank from there, i was like YEAHHHHHH!!!!! i can change from custom menu A to B so easily .. makes the button customisation a lot more powerful!
